英検1級英作文：体罰
2021年第1回の英検1級受験時に、英作文・面接対策として自分が書き溜めた原稿を公開しています。
Grammarlyに頼りつつ書いたもので、完全に独学で勉強していたため、不自然な表現や文法的に間違った英文が含まれている可能性もありますので、ご注意ご了承ください。
実績としては、本番は英作文・面接どちらもこのブログで公開している原稿から、使える部分を流用したような格好で解答を行いました。
得点もそれぞれ英作文が745/850で9割近い点数が獲れ, 面接は615/850と合格ギリギリの水準ですが、2分スピーチセクションであまりの緊張から10秒近く言葉が出てこなかった所から原稿の内容を駆使した決死の、華麗なる逆転劇があってのものですので、内容としてはまあ悪くない水準にあると思います。

Agree or disagree: The benefits of corporal punishment at school outweigh its disadvantages.
Corporal punishment is the typical example of an outdated and foolish educational method that is only for the convenience of educators. Some self-proclaimed educators still argue that it is the most efficient way to educate students, I strongly believe the downsides of corporal punishment at school far outweigh its benefits for the following three reasons.
Firstly, physical punishment by educators will eventually turn their students into violent people too. In the first place, corporal punishment is only sheer violence but not education, which is synonymous with teaching that violence is the best way to solve problems.
Secondly, corporal punishment can cause psychological trauma that will remain with the student for a lifetime. Violent pressure instills fear towards others and makes it difficult for students to build good relationships in the community.
Finally, approving corporal punishment will lead to the mass production of unskilled educators. It will lead to an increase in inept teachers who rely only on corporal punishment and do not know how to educate other than through violence, which will lower the quality of education.
In conclusion, for these three reasons, turning students violent, causing mental damages to students, and declining the quality of education, I believe that the downsides of physical punishment at school outweigh its benefits.
体罰は、教育者の都合だけで行われる、時代遅れの愚かな教育方法の典型例です。自称教育者の中には、いまだに体罰が最も効率的な教育方法だと主張する人もいますが、私は以下の3つの理由から、学校での体罰のデメリットはメリットよりもはるかに大きいと考えています。
第一に、教育者による体罰は、最終的に生徒を暴力的な人間にしてしまいます。そもそも体罰は単なる暴力であり、暴力が問題解決の最善の方法であると教えることと同義です。
第二に、体罰は生徒に一生残るような心理的なトラウマを与えます。暴力によるプレッシャーは、他人への恐怖心を植え付け、生徒が地域社会で良好な人間関係を築くことを困難にします。
最後に、体罰を認めると、スキルのない教育者が大量に生産されることになります。体罰だけに頼り、暴力以外の教育方法を知らない無能な教師が増えることになり、教育の質が低下してしまいます。
結論として、「生徒を暴力的にする」「生徒に精神的ダメージを与える」「教育の質を低下させる」という3つの理由から、学校での体罰はメリットよりもデメリットの方が大きいと考えます。
