英検1級英作文：道徳教育
2021年第1回の英検1級受験時に、英作文・面接対策として自分が書き溜めた原稿を公開しています。
Grammarlyに頼りつつ書いたもので、完全に独学で勉強していたため、不自然な表現や文法的に間違った英文が含まれている可能性もありますので、ご注意ご了承ください。
実績としては、本番は英作文・面接どちらもこのブログで公開している原稿から、使える部分を流用したような格好で解答を行いました。
得点もそれぞれ英作文が745/850で9割近い点数が獲れ, 面接は615/850と合格ギリギリの水準ですが、2分スピーチセクションであまりの緊張から10秒近く言葉が出てこなかった所から原稿の内容を駆使した決死の、華麗なる逆転劇があってのものですので、内容としてはまあ悪くない水準にあると思います。

Is moral education at school important?

Moral education is one of the controversial issues in school curricula. Although some people consider moral education to be useless compared to practical education, I believe that moral education at school is important for the following three reasons.
Firstly, moral education in school is necessary to supplement the lack of adequate discipline at home.
With the increase in the number of dual working parents, more and more parents are not able to spend enough time with their children. Therefore, moral education in school is indispensable as a safety net of discipline at home.
Secondly, morality is the fundamental standard to live in society, and all children need to learn it. Lack of distinction between right and wrong, or politeness, which are supposed to be learned through moral education, will have a negative impact on a child’s future, such as isolation in a community or criminal behavior.
Finally, moral education helps children grow into qualified business professionals. Superior cooperation enhanced through moral education is an invaluable skill that is highly esteemed in organizations, especially after entering society. Moral education has the potential to help children succeed in society in the future.
In conclusion, for these three reasons, complementing family discipline, learning social ethics, and developing the qualified ability in society, I think that moral education at school plays an important role.
道徳教育は、学校のカリキュラムの中で議論されている問題の一つです。道徳教育は実技教育に比べて役に立たないと考える人もいますが、私は次の3つの理由から学校での道徳教育は重要だと考えています。
第一に、学校での道徳教育は、家庭での十分なしつけの不足を補うために必要です。
共働きの親が増えたことで、子供と十分な時間を過ごせない親が増えています。そのため、家庭でのしつけのセーフティーネットとして、学校での道徳教育が欠かせないのです。
第二に、道徳は社会で生きていくための基本的な基準であり、すべての子供たちが学ぶ必要があります。本来、道徳教育で身につけるべき善悪の区別や礼儀作法ができていないと、地域社会での孤立や犯罪行為など、子どもの将来に悪影響を及ぼします。
最後に、道徳教育は、子どもたちがビジネスパーソンとしての資質を身につけるために役立ちます。道徳教育によって高められた優れた協調性は、特に社会に出てから組織の中で高く評価される貴重なスキルです。道徳教育は、子どもたちが将来、社会で成功するために役立つ可能性を秘めています。
結論として、家庭でのしつけを補い、社会倫理を学び、社会で通用する能力を身につける、これら3つの理由から、学校での道徳教育は重要な役割を果たしていると思います。
