英検1級英作文：自由貿易
2021年第1回の英検1級受験時に、英作文・面接対策として自分が書き溜めた原稿を公開しています。
Grammarlyに頼りつつ書いたもので、完全に独学で勉強していたため、不自然な表現や文法的に間違った英文が含まれている可能性もありますので、ご注意ご了承ください。
実績としては、本番は英作文・面接どちらもこのブログで公開している原稿から、使える部分を流用したような格好で解答を行いました。
得点もそれぞれ英作文が745/850で9割近い点数が獲れ, 面接は615/850と合格ギリギリの水準ですが、2分スピーチセクションであまりの緊張から10秒近く言葉が出てこなかった所から原稿の内容を駆使した決死の、華麗なる逆転劇があってのものですので、内容としてはまあ悪くない水準にあると思います。

Should free trade be promoted?

Nowadays, the encouragement of free trade is one of the contentious issues in the modern world. Although some people criticize it for the risk of exposing domestic industries to economically harsh situations, I agree with the idea that free trade is desirable for the following three reasons.
Firstly, free trade contributes to the economic growth of the country. Free trade leads to an increase in the influx of foreign products at competitive prices with innovative technologies, thus stimulating people’s consumption and economic activities that result in economic growth.
Secondly, free trade also promotes the technological innovation of the country. It will bring not only attractive products but also the technology of them at the same time. An influx of state-of-the-art technologies that domestic industries do not have yet will encourage domestic companies’ efforts to achieve technological development to catch up with the global standard.
Finally, free trade contributes to a supply of products at stably reasonable prices. An increase in products’ varieties and choices in the domestic market prevents a monopoly state by certain domestic companies and always encourages the competition of products’ prices, which hinders inappropriately expensive products’ prices.
In conclusion, for these three reasons, contributing to economic growth, promoting technological innovation, protecting consumers from a market monopoly, I think that free trade should be more promoted.
現在、自由貿易の奨励は、現代世界における論争の一つとなっています。国内産業が経済的に厳しい状況にさらされるリスクがあると批判する人もいますが、私は次の3つの理由から自由貿易が望ましいという考えに賛成です。
第一に、自由貿易は国の経済成長に貢献します。自由貿易により、革新的な技術を持った外国製品が競争力のある価格で流入することで、人々の消費や経済活動が活発化し、経済成長につながります。
第二に、自由貿易は国の技術革新も促進します。魅力的な製品だけでなく、その技術も同時にもたらされます。国内産業がまだ持っていない最先端の技術が流入することで、国内企業が世界標準に追いつくために技術開発を達成しようとする努力が促されます。
最後に、自由貿易は安定した適正価格での製品供給に貢献する。国内市場における製品の種類や選択肢が増えれば、特定の国内企業による独占状態を防ぐことができ、また、製品の価格競争が常に促進されるため、不適切に高価な製品の価格を抑制することができます。
結論として、経済成長への貢献、技術革新の促進、市場の独占からの消費者の保護、これら3つの理由から、自由貿易はもっと促進されるべきだと思います。
