英検1級英作文：動物保護
2021年第1回の英検1級受験時に、英作文・面接対策として自分が書き溜めた原稿を公開しています。
Grammarlyに頼りつつ書いたもので、完全に独学で勉強していたため、不自然な表現や文法的に間違った英文が含まれている可能性もありますので、ご注意ご了承ください。
実績としては、本番は英作文・面接どちらもこのブログで公開している原稿から、使える部分を流用したような格好で解答を行いました。
得点もそれぞれ英作文が745/850で9割近い点数が獲れ, 面接は615/850と合格ギリギリの水準ですが、2分スピーチセクションであまりの緊張から10秒近く言葉が出てこなかった所から原稿の内容を駆使した決死の、華麗なる逆転劇があってのものですので、内容としてはまあ悪くない水準にあると思います。

Should animal rights be protected?
Human beings have taken advantage of animal lives as foods, tools, and experimental subjects, and more. Our relentless economic activities have damaged global environments and deprived animals’ natural habitats. However, I believe that we have to respect and protect animal rights and lives for a sustainable future for the following three reasons.
Firstly, conservation of animal lives can prevent the extinction of species and preserve the global ecosystem. All living creatures depend on each other for survival on a fine balance of the ecosystem. Extinction of a species can lead to grave destruction of the balance in the long run. By actively protecting animal lives, we have to prevent further extinction of animal species.
Secondly, the preservation of biodiversity by protecting animal rights provides human societies with natural resources. Various natural resources such as water and plants for foods and medicines are bounties of the biodiverse global environment. Conserving animal lives is one of the means for retaining this biodiversity which has given human beings various natural resources.
Finally, the above-mentioned global biodiversities contribute to technical innovation for creating a better world. Various animals’ DNAs are invaluable resources for genetic researches and agricultural and medical innovation. Needless to say, the experiments should be conducted in a way that does not affect animal’s health and lives
In conclusion, for these three reasons, for preserving the ecosystem and provision of natural resources, and advancing sustainable innovative technology, I think that animal lives should be protected.
人間は、動物の命を食料、道具、実験台などとして利用してきました。私たちのあくなき経済活動は、地球環境を破壊し、動物たちの自然な生息地を奪ってきました。しかし、これからは、持続可能な未来のために、次の3つの理由から、動物の権利と命を尊重し、保護していかなければならないと考えています。
第一に、動物の命を守ることは、種の絶滅を防ぎ、地球の生態系を守ることにつながります。すべての生物は、生態系の絶妙なバランスの上に、お互いに依存して生きています。ある種の絶滅は、長期的にはバランスの重大な破壊につながる。積極的に動物の命を守ることで、これ以上の動物種の絶滅を防ぐ必要があります。
第二に、動物の生命と権利を守り、生物多様性を保全することは、人間社会に天然資源を提供することになります。水や食用・薬用の植物など様々な天然資源は、生物多様性のある地球環境からの恵みです。動物の命を守ることは、人類に様々な自然資源を与えてくれているこの生物多様性を維持するための手段の一つである。
最後に、上記の地球上の生物多様性は、より良い世界を作るための技術革新に貢献している。様々な動物のDNAは、遺伝子研究や農業・医療の技術革新に欠かせない貴重な資源である。もちろん、実験は動物の健康や命に影響を与えない方法で行われなければならないことは言うまでもない。
結論として、これらの3つの理由から、生態系の維持や天然資源の提供、持続可能な革新的技術の進歩のために、動物の命は守られるべきだと思います。
