英検1級英作文：芸術

2021年第1回の英検1級受験時に、英作文・面接対策として自分が書き溜めた原稿を公開しています。

Grammarlyに頼りつつ書いたもので、完全に独学で勉強していたため、不自然な表現や文法的に間違った英文が含まれている可能性もありますので、ご注意ご了承ください。

実績としては、本番は英作文・面接どちらもこのブログで公開している原稿から、使える部分を流用したような格好で解答を行いました。

得点もそれぞれ英作文が745/850で9割近い点数が獲れ, 面接は615/850と合格ギリギリの水準ですが、2分スピーチセクションであまりの緊張から10秒近く言葉が出てこなかった所から原稿の内容を駆使した決死の、華麗なる逆転劇があってのものですので、内容としてはまあ悪くない水準にあると思います。

Agree or disagree: Art does not make a significant contribution to society.

With rapid industrialization and labor shortages caused by an aging society, the need for competitive workforces with high-level knowledge of science or IT technology is increasing in modern societies. Although the value of art tends to be underestimated in this trend, I think that art still contributes to society for the following three reasons.

Firstly, the art industry has played an important role in the economy. For example, many people fork out a huge amount of money on their favorite artists’ concerts or events. The money that has been paid for artworks has surely supported the economy. Great contents have the power to stimulate people’s consumption.

Secondly, art is so closely related to ingenious sense which contributes to innovative discoveries. Art education will encourage people to develop their ingenious ways of thinking, which contributes to coming up with new and innovative ideas.

Finally, art has the power which contribute to social stability and world peace. Some stupendous artworks have attracted people all over the world regardless of nation, creed, and language. Art will sometimes help mutual understandings, which allow people to surmount social problems cooperatively.

In conclusion, for these three reasons, contributing to the economy, developing creativity and innovative ideas, and encouraging mutual understandings across the world, I think that art can make a significant contribution to society.

急速な工業化や高齢化による労働力不足など、現代社会では、科学やIT技術に関する高度な知識を持った競争力のある人材が求められています。このような流れの中で、アートの価値は軽視されがちですが、私は次の3つの理由から、アートはまだまだ社会に貢献していると考えています。

第一に、アート産業は経済的にも重要な役割を果たしています。例えば、好きなアーティストのコンサートやイベントには、多くの人が莫大なお金を払っています。アート作品に支払われたお金は、確実に経済を支えています。優れたコンテンツには、人々の消費を刺激する力があるのです。

第二に、芸術は革新的な発見をもたらす独創的な感覚と密接に関係しています。芸術教育は、人々の独創的な思考方法を促進し、新しい革新的なアイデアを生み出すことに貢献します。

最後に、芸術は社会の安定と世界の平和に貢献する力を持っています。いくつかの素晴らしい芸術作品は、国、信条、言語を問わず、世界中の人々を魅了しています。アートは時に相互理解を助け、人々が協力して社会問題を克服することを可能にします。

結論として、「経済に貢献する」「創造性と革新的なアイデアを開発する」「世界の相互理解を促進する」という3つの理由から、アートは社会に大きく貢献できると考えています。
