英検1級英作文：COVID-19
2021年第1回の英検1級受験時に、英作文・面接対策として自分が書き溜めた原稿を公開しています。
Grammarlyに頼りつつ書いたもので、完全に独学で勉強していたため、不自然な表現や文法的に間違った英文が含まれている可能性もありますので、ご注意ご了承ください。
実績としては、本番は英作文・面接どちらもこのブログで公開している原稿から、使える部分を流用したような格好で解答を行いました。
得点もそれぞれ英作文が745/850で9割近い点数が獲れ, 面接は615/850と合格ギリギリの水準ですが、2分スピーチセクションであまりの緊張から10秒近く言葉が出てこなかった所から原稿の内容を駆使した決死の、華麗なる逆転劇があってのものですので、内容としてはまあ悪くない水準にあると思います。

英検1級合格を目指す皆様に、こちらの原稿が少しでもお役に立てば幸いです。
※当時の旬な時事ネタもいいところなテーマなので、汎用性という点では他に劣るかもしれません。

Which should we emphasize more, economy or prevention of infection on problems of COVID-19?

After COVID-19 had spread all over the world, the balance of economy and prevention of infection has been one of the most controversial issues in the world.
Personally, I believe that the perfect eradication of the virus with a suspension of economic activities is the best way for these problems for the following three reasons.
Firstly, prolonged problems of COVID-19 hinder the economic growth of the world.
It has been proven impossible to balance economic activities and eradication of virus through the situation of each country in the last year. Even though it needs a moratorium on economic activities, concentrating on the thorough prevention of infection will contribute to quick economic recovery.
Secondly, infection of COVID-19 endangers human lives. However the loss of human lives is irreparable, the economic damage can be recovered even if it takes much time in the future. Economy affairs should not take precedence over invaluable human lives.
Finally, the further spread of infection of this dangerous virus will hamper the efforts to achieve world peace.
Racial discrimination against Asian people was seen at some places in the world when this virus was uncovered.
It can recur the discrimination to people from the country which failed to prevent the spread of infection.
In conclusion, for the above-mentioned three reasons, hampering the economic recovery of the world, the risk of the irreparable loss of human lives, and obstructing world peace, I believe that economic activities should be stopped once to prevent from spreading COVID-19.

COVID-19が世界中に蔓延した後、経済と感染防止のバランスが世界で最も議論されている問題の一つとなりました。
個人的には、次の3つの理由から、経済活動を停止してウイルスを完全に根絶することが、この問題に対する最善の方法であると考えています。
第一に、COVID-19の問題が長引くと、世界の経済成長が阻害されます。
経済活動とウイルスの撲滅を両立させることは不可能であることが、昨年の各国の状況から証明されています。
経済活動のモラトリアムが必要だとしても、徹底した感染予防に注力することが、早期の経済回復につながると考えます。
第二に、COVID-19の感染は人命に関わる問題であることです。
人命の損失は取り返しがつきませんが、経済的な被害は将来的に時間がかかっても回復させることができます。
経済的な問題が、かけがえのない人命よりも優先されるべきではありません。
最後に、この危険なウイルスの感染がさらに広がると、世界平和の実現に支障をきたすことになります。
このウイルスが発見されたとき、世界のいくつかの地域では、アジア人に対する民族差別が見られました。
感染拡大を防ぐことができなかった国の人たちへの差別を再発させることになりかねません。
結論として、上記の3つの理由、すなわち、世界の経済復興を妨げること、取り返しのつかない人命損失の危険性があること、世界平和を妨げることから、COVID-19の拡散を防ぐために、経済活動を一旦停止すべきであると考えます。
