英検1級英作文：動物実験
2021年第1回の英検1級受験時に、英作文・面接対策として自分が書き溜めた原稿を公開しています。
Grammarlyに頼りつつ書いたもので、完全に独学で勉強していたため、不自然な表現や文法的に間違った英文が含まれている可能性もありますので、ご注意ご了承ください。
実績としては、本番は英作文・面接どちらもこのブログで公開している原稿から、使える部分を流用したような格好で解答を行いました。
得点もそれぞれ英作文が745/850で9割近い点数が獲れ, 面接は615/850と合格ギリギリの水準ですが、2分スピーチセクションであまりの緊張から10秒近く言葉が出てこなかった所から原稿の内容を駆使した決死の、華麗なる逆転劇があってのものですので、内容としてはまあ悪くない水準にあると思います。

Human beings have taken advantage of animals as foods, materials of tools, and experimental subjects since the far past. Although some people argue that it is unavoidable to use animals’ lives for maintaining human health, personally, I believe that animal testing should be banned immediately for the following three reasons.
Firstly, banning animal testing will contribute to preserving animals’ lives and reducing the possibility of the extinction of species. In the long run, the extinction of one species can bring a huge impact on the global environment as a whole. The act to kill animals for human benefits should be abolished for preventing environmental damage.
Secondly, abolishing animal testing can encourage all industries to use safe and harmless ingredients and materials. One of the reasons why animal testing is conducted can be attributed to the use of possibly harmful materials for human health. Banning animal testing will also have a good influence on human health by reducing potentially dangerous products to the human body.
Finally, banning animal testing can enhance corporate reputation. With increasing ethical awareness especially among young people, the animal-friendly business stance can attract many consumers, which can also stimulate the economic growth of the company.
In conclusion, for these three reasons, preserving animals’ lives, contributing to the inhibition of the use of harmful materials for products, and enhancing corporate reputation, I think that animal testing should be banned immediately.
人間ははるか昔から、動物を食料や道具の材料、実験材料として利用してきました。人間の健康維持のために動物の命を利用するのはやむを得ないという意見もありますが、個人的には以下の3つの理由から、動物実験は直ちに禁止すべきだと考えます。
第一に、動物実験を禁止することは、動物の命を守り、種の絶滅の可能性を減らすことに貢献します。長い目で見れば、一つの種の絶滅は地球環境全体に大きな影響を与えます。環境破壊を防ぐためにも、人間の利益のために動物を殺す行為は廃止されるべきです。
第二に、動物実験を廃止することで、すべての産業が安全で無害な原料や素材を使うようになります。動物実験が行われる理由の一つは、人間の健康に有害な可能性のある材料を使用することにあります。動物実験を禁止することで、人体に危険を及ぼす可能性のある製品を減らすことができ、人間の健康にも良い影響を与えます。
最後に、動物実験を禁止することで、企業の評判を高めることができます。特に若い人たちの間で倫理的な意識が高まっている中、動物に優しいビジネススタンスは多くの消費者を魅了し、企業の経済成長を促すことにもつながります。
結論として、「動物の命を守る」「製品に有害な物質を使わないようにする」「企業の評判を高める」という3つの理由から、私は動物実験を直ちに禁止すべきだと思います。
